Information

This very rare ceiling lamp is attributed to Vilhelm Lauritzen and produced by Fog & Mørup in Denmark during the 1940s. The fixture is composed of black lacquered metal, brass, and opaline glass, representing a refined combination of materials typical of early Scandinavian modernism. The design features a large circular black lacquered metal ring, from which ten opaline glass shades are suspended. Each shade is mounted via elegantly curved brass arms that attach to the main structure. The opaline glass diffusers are shaped into soft, rounded forms that provide an even, warm glow when illuminated. The suspension system includes brass fittings and wires connecting the ring to a brass ceiling canopy, ensuring structural stability while emphasizing the lamp’s airy and sculptural quality. The surfaces show signs of patina and wear appropriate to their age, with minor variations in lacquer and brass oxidation that contribute to the lamp’s authentic historical character.
