Harald Notini table lamp
This rare double table lamp, model 15144, was designed by Harald Notini and produced by Arvid Böhlmarks Lampfabrik in Sweden during the 1930s. It exemplifies the Art Deco style through its sophisticated balance of chrome and black lacquered metal, showcasing the era’s focus on geometric forms and industrial materials.
The lamp features a symmetrical design with two dome-shaped black lacquered metal shades positioned at either end of a horizontal chrome arm. This arm is attached to a cylindrical vertical stem, partially encased in a black lacquered segment, which extends down to a weighted circular base for stability. The articulating arms allow the shades to be adjusted for directional lighting, making this piece especially suitable for desk or workspace use.
Harald Notini was a prominent figure in Swedish lighting design in the early 20th century, known for his work with Böhlmarks, one of Sweden’s leading lamp manufacturers. His designs skillfully combined functional innovation with refined aesthetics, contributing significantly to the Swedish Art Deco movement and the transition toward early modernist lighting.
This lamp stands as a notable example of early Swedish Art Deco lighting design, merging practicality with an elegant industrial appearance. Measuring 91 cm in width, 26 cm in depth, and 43 cm in height (35.8 x 10.2 x 16.9 inches), it remains in original condition, showing a patina and wear consistent with its age and history of use.
