Floor lamps
This rare pair of floor lamps was produced by Falkenbergs Belysning AB in Sweden during the 1950s. They exemplify Scandinavian mid-century lighting design, combining minimalist geometry with a tactile material palette of brass and leather. The design reflects the postwar Scandinavian aesthetic of refined simplicity, material honesty, and practical elegance.
Each lamp consists of a tall, slender shaft clad in stitched brown leather, which is fitted into a weighted circular base made of solid brass. The leather-wrapped column introduces a subtle texture and warmth, contrasting with the polished brass base and upper stem. The lamps are operated via a pull-chain switch with a brass finial, a detail that reflects period craftsmanship and mechanical subtlety. The lamp holders are topped with fittings designed to support conventional shades, these are not included though. They’re being sold without any lamp shades.
Falkenbergs Belysning, established in the Swedish town of Falkenberg, is recognized for its mid-century lighting production, distinguished by careful workmanship and high-quality materials. The company produced a variety of floor, table, and ceiling lights during the 1940s to 1960s, often marked with an emblem of a sun motif, as visible on the underside of these pieces. Their work is noted for its durable construction and stylistic alignment with Scandinavian modernism.
The condition is good vintage, with minor signs of use and age. The leather surfaces exhibit some scuffs and natural wear, while the brass shows light patina and surface marks consistent with decades of use.
The dimensions of each lamp are 34 cm in diameter and 149 cm in height, which translates to approximately 13.4 inches in diameter and 58.7 inches in height.
