Hans-Agne Jakobsson ceiling lamp
This rare ceiling lamp is model T-348/6, designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by his own company, Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB, in Markaryd, Sweden. The lamp features a polished brass frame and six spherical glass shades in a warm amber tone. The shades are arranged in a symmetrical radial configuration, supported by a central stem and crossbar structure, creating a balanced and sculptural composition. The brass surfaces show a bright golden finish, giving the lamp an elegant and refined presence, while the amber glass softens the light and creates a warm, atmospheric glow.
The condition is good vintage, with minor signs of usage visible on the brass and glass consistent with age and careful use. The piece has been well-preserved, and the original lacquer on the brass retains a rich luster. The six arms are evenly spaced, giving a clear sense of symmetry, and the original glass globes are intact, free from cracks or structural damage.
Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919–2009) was one of Sweden’s most influential lighting designers, known for his ability to manipulate light to create soft, diffused atmospheres. His designs, produced primarily by his Markaryd-based company, range from minimal Scandinavian forms to striking statement pieces like this chandelier. The model T-348/6 is an excellent example of Jakobsson’s approach to materiality and geometry, with its combination of polished metal and richly tinted glass.
This lamp belongs to the Scandinavian mid-century modern tradition, characterized by a blend of functional clarity and sculptural elegance. The use of warm amber glass and polished brass was particularly popular in the 1950s, lending interiors a sophisticated but intimate light quality.
