Hans-Agne Jakobsson ceiling lamp
This elegant ceiling lamp, model T-549 “Carolin”, was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden during the 1950s. With its distinctive combination of a generous, softly domed shade and a refined brass chandelier structure, it captures the warm and atmospheric design language that defines Jakobsson’s lighting from the period.
The lamp features a newly reupholstered shade in white fabric, stretched over a subtle ribbed framework that gives the surface a gentle rhythm and a calm architectural presence. When lit, the fabric shade produces a beautifully diffused glow, balancing functional illumination with an inviting, ambient warmth. Beneath the shade, the sculptural brass armature forms a classic multi-light arrangement, adding depth and character while maintaining a clean and well-proportioned silhouette.
The brass structure shows a fine patina and light traces of age, which enhance the authentic vintage character without distracting from the overall impression. The lamp is in good condition, with small signs of usage consistent with time and careful handling, and the updated shade provides a crisp and fresh contrast to the warm brass finish.
The diameter measures 55 cm (21.7 in). The overall height is 105 cm (41.3 in) and can be adjusted depending on installation preference, making it suitable both as a central statement piece in a room or above a dining table where its warm light and elegant construction can be fully appreciated.
