Information

This is a rare pair of early easy chairs with matching footstool, model GE-233, designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1952 and produced by Getama, Denmark. The frames are crafted from stained beech, showcasing Wegner’s signature sculptural yet functional approach, with softly rounded edges and angled supports that give the pieces both strength and visual lightness. The seats feature an adjustable reclining function, allowing for varied seating positions.

The cushions retain their original fabric upholstery, a woven textile in a warm beige tone with alternating vertical stripes in a lighter shade, providing both a subtle contrast and a period-accurate texture. The construction includes mortise and tenon joinery, typical of mid-century Danish craftsmanship, ensuring lasting durability.

This model exemplifies mid-century Scandinavian design, combining practical comfort with an understated elegance. The matching footstool mirrors the chair’s proportions and joinery, enhancing both functionality and visual coherence. The set is in good vintage condition with minor signs of wear consistent with age and use.
