Information

This rare pair of stools, model PK-33, was designed by Poul Kjærholm and produced by E. Kold Christensen in Denmark during the 1950s. Kjærholm, known for his refined approach to modernist furniture, often combined industrial materials with natural ones, creating designs that balanced elegance with functionality. The PK-33 is a prime example of his philosophy, showcasing clean lines and a minimalist form while retaining a sense of warmth and tactility.

Each stool features a chromed steel frame with three legs that provide stability and a visually light structure. The round seat is upholstered in original brown leather, which has developed a rich patina over time, adding depth and character to the piece. The combination of cool metal and soft, aged leather reflects Kjærholm’s mastery of material contrasts and his interest in timeless, functional forms.

These stools embody the principles of mid-century Scandinavian design, where craftsmanship, material honesty, and restrained aesthetics are paramount. They work equally well as standalone seating or as complements to Kjærholm’s other iconic pieces from the same era.

Dimensions are 52 cm wide, 52 cm deep, and 33 cm high (20.5 x 20.5 x 13 in)
