Information

This floor lamp, model G-154, was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden, during the 1960s. The model belongs to Jakobsson’s long exploration of controlled, glare-free lighting, where perforated and layered metal structures are used to modulate light while maintaining a sculptural clarity.

The lamp is executed entirely in brass, with a cylindrical shade mounted on a slender vertical stem and a circular base. The shade features a perforated top plate that allows heat to dissipate while contributing to the characteristic light diffusion associated with Jakobsson’s work. A small integrated lever beneath the shade allows for directional adjustment, enabling the light to be angled precisely. The brass surface shows a warm, naturally aged patina that emphasizes the material’s depth and reflects the period’s preference for honest, tactile finishes.

The construction is restrained and balanced, combining functional engineering with a minimal, architectural expression typical of Scandinavian mid-century lighting. The lamp is intended to provide directed ambient or reading light, with the perforated and partially enclosed shade softening the output and reducing glare.

The lamp is in excellent vintage condition, with minor signs of use consistent with age. The brass shows light surface wear and patination, but no structural issues or significant damage are present.

Dimensions are approximately 28 cm wide, 17 cm deep, and 120 cm high, corresponding to about 11 x 6.7 x 47.2 inches.
