Harald Notini ceiling lamp
This ceiling lamp, model 6461, was designed by Harald Notini and produced by Böhlmarks in Sweden during the 1930s. The lamp is a refined example of the Swedish Grace style, combining Art Deco influences with Nordic craftsmanship and a restrained elegance. Swedish Grace, prevalent in the 1920s and 1930s, emphasized geometric clarity, fine materials, and decorative but understated motifs.
The lamp features a symmetrical composition with a central column in patinated brass, from which spring delicate, stylized botanical forms reminiscent of palm fronds. These elements are finely curved and layered, creating an airy, architectural silhouette. At the top of the suspension rod, a textile-covered tassel adds a decorative accent, blending ornamental softness with the structural brass components. The light source is housed within an elegantly fluted amber glass shade, whose shallow, conical form diffuses light evenly downward and outward. The glass displays a subtle gradation of tone and fine linear texture, enhancing both its aesthetic and functional qualities.
The materials—brass and amber glass—complement each other in both color and texture. The brass has developed a warm, aged patina with some areas of darker oxidation, while the amber glass maintains a soft, even tone. The lamp is presented in good vintage condition, with minor signs of wear consistent with its age. The glass shade is free from major damage, and the brass elements display only slight surface wear. The light diffusion from the amber shade creates a warm, inviting atmosphere, characteristic of 1930s Scandinavian interior lighting.
