Candlesticks

This rare set of candlesticks was produced in Sweden during the 1950s and reflects the refined material language typical of Scandinavian mid-century decorative objects. Executed in brass and textured glass, the design combines industrial precision with a soft sculptural expression, resulting in a series of compact candleholders with a distinctly architectural character.

Each candlestick is constructed from two primary components: a cylindrical glass body and a perforated brass candle cup. The glass is thick and heavy, with a frosted white tone and a fine bubbled texture that gives the surface a crystalline appearance. This textured finish creates a subtle light diffusion when the candle is lit and adds depth to the otherwise minimal form. The brass element is shaped as a slightly tapered cylinder, punctuated with evenly distributed perforations and finished with a flat top plate, creating a functional holder for small candles while also introducing a decorative technical detail.

The combination of opaque glass and warm brass produces a clear contrast in both color and surface quality. The candlesticks can be arranged in groups to create larger compositions, where the repeated form becomes a modular sculptural installation. This type of small-scale brass and glass production was common in Sweden during the postwar decades, when manufacturers explored new combinations of materials for modern domestic interiors, often without attributing designs to specific individuals.

The set is in good vintage condition with minor signs of age and use. The brass components show light surface wear and natural patina, while the glass retains its textured finish with only small marks consistent with careful handling.
