Lisa Johansson-Pape table lamp

Rare table lamp designed by Lisa Johansson-Pape and produced by Stockmann-Orno in Finland during the 1950s. This elegant model demonstrates Johansson-Pape’s exceptional ability to combine refined materials with understated modernist form, creating lighting that is both decorative and highly functional. The lamp’s slender proportions and carefully balanced silhouette embody the sophisticated Scandinavian aesthetic that made her one of Finland’s most influential lighting designers.

The lamp features a polished brass base paired with a distinctive stem wrapped in natural leather. The spiral-wound leather introduces a subtle tactile quality and a handcrafted character, contrasting beautifully with the reflective brass elements. This combination of warm materials gives the lamp a uniquely organic appearance while maintaining a refined architectural presence.

Retaining its original shade, the lamp is particularly notable for its layered construction. A soft pink inner shade is enveloped by a delicately pleated translucent outer fabric, producing a remarkable visual effect both illuminated and unlit. When lit, the shade emits a warm amber glow while revealing the pink interior, creating a rich depth of colour and a highly atmospheric light. The finely pleated textile diffuses the illumination beautifully and highlights Johansson-Pape’s sensitivity to the quality of light within an interior.
