Table lamp

Rare table lamp, probably produced in Italy during the 1950s. The lamp displays a highly sculptural and organic design that reflects the experimental spirit of post-war Italian lighting. Combining a lightweight geometric structure with a hand-formed spherical shade, it embodies the poetic approach to material and light that became characteristic of many small Italian workshops during the period.

The lamp consists of a globe-shaped shade constructed from sprayed polymer resin stretched over a delicate internal framework. The surface reveals a rich texture with subtle tonal variations, creating an appearance reminiscent of parchment, cocoon silk, or traditional lantern construction. Vertical ribs define the form and emphasize its handcrafted character, while the open top allows the light source to remain partially visible and enhances the upward diffusion of light.

The shade is supported by a minimalist tripod base executed in blackened iron. The slender metal legs create a striking visual contrast to the soft, luminous volume above and lend the lamp an architectural lightness. A simple iron handle integrated into the upper opening reinforces the lantern-like appearance and contributes to the piece’s distinctly sculptural silhouette.

When illuminated, the translucent resin material transforms into a warm amber sphere, revealing the fibrous texture and subtle irregularities within the surface. The light is softly diffused throughout the shade, creating an intimate atmosphere and highlighting the handcrafted qualities of the material. The resulting glow is exceptionally warm and evocative, making the lamp both a functional light source and a decorative object.

The lamp remains in good vintage condition with visible signs of age and use. The shade displays areas of natural discoloration, patina, and surface wear that have developed over time, contributing to its authentic character. The iron structure shows age-related patination consistent with the lamp’s vintage nature.
