Information
A rare and elegant table lamp, model 15474, designed by Harald Notini and produced by Arvid Böhlmarks Lampfabrik in Sweden during the 1940s. A refined example of Swedish Modern design, combining beautifully patinated brass with the warmth and natural character of elm wood.

The lamp features a broad, gently curved brass shade with a distinctive low, dome-shaped silhouette. Its softly rounded edges and generous proportions create a sculptural yet understated appearance, characteristic of the sophisticated lighting designs of the Swedish Modern period.

The shade is supported by a slender, vertically fluted elm stem, introducing a subtle architectural rhythm and a warm contrast to the metal surfaces. The carefully proportioned wooden column rises from a circular brass base with delicately stepped edges, providing a harmonious balance between the lamp’s horizontal and vertical elements.

A small white switch is discreetly positioned on the base, preserving the clean and functional character of the design. Beneath the shade, two light sources provide a warm, downward-directed illumination, making the lamp equally suitable as an atmospheric accent light or an elegant addition to a desk or side table.

The brass surfaces have developed a beautiful, naturally aged patina, with subtle variations in tone and texture that emphasize the lamp’s authenticity and vintage character. Together with the richly grained elm, these materials give the piece a distinctive warmth and timeless appeal.

Harald Notini was an influential Swedish designer whose work for Arvid Böhlmarks Lampfabrik contributed to the development of modern Scandinavian lighting. His designs are recognized for their carefully considered proportions, elegant material combinations, and balance between functional simplicity and decorative refinement.

Produced during the 1940s, model 15474 exemplifies these qualities through its sculptural brass shade, finely fluted wooden stem, and restrained architectural composition. Its distinctive silhouette and thoughtful craftsmanship make it a particularly attractive example of Swedish Modern lighting.

The lamp remains in good vintage condition, with signs of age and use and a beautiful patina consistent with its period.
