This easy chair and stool set, model “Inca” was designed by Arne Norell and produced by Arne Norell AB in Sweden during the 1960s. The frames are constructed from solid beech wood with a natural finish, paired with patinated brown leather cushions and saddle leather straps. Brass buckles and fittings are used throughout the structure, emphasizing both decorative and functional aspects of the design.

The chair’s structure consists of cylindrical wooden elements joined together to support a suspended seat and backrest, held securely by a system of leather straps and fastenings. This creates a hammock-like seating experience with a floating quality. The seat is deep and wide, complemented by generously padded cushions that enhance comfort. Integrated into the leather back panel are headrest and lumbar support cushions, attached with visible brass hardware. The matching ottoman mirrors this construction and material palette, featuring the same suspended leather support system and cushion detailing.

Arne Norell was a prominent Swedish designer known for his luxurious and versatile seating designs, often blending leather and solid wood in innovative structural ways. His work bridges Scandinavian design values with international influences, notably early 20th-century campaign and safari furniture. The Inca model is one of his most iconic, reflecting his focus on material expression, comfort, and modular construction.
