Ceiling lamp
This rare ceiling lamp, produced in Sweden during the 1930s, is a representative example of Scandinavian Art Deco lighting, combining decorative detailing with geometric restraint. Though the designer remains unknown, the piece embodies the stylistic tendencies of the period, emphasizing craftsmanship, symmetry, and the interplay between material texture and light.
The lamp features a large disc-shaped shade made from raw, pressed glass. The surface of the glass is textured, enhancing its ability to diffuse light softly and evenly throughout a space. The glass has a subtle green tint, most pronounced along the edges, which gives the fixture a cool tonal quality when unlit and a soft ambient hue when illuminated. At the center of the disc, a stylized floral motif is cast in low relief, adding a visual focal point that is typical of the decorative influences in early 20th-century Swedish lighting.
The suspension system consists of a straight, nickel-plated rod that connects the shade to a rounded canopy. The nickel plating provides a clean, silvery finish with a muted sheen, in keeping with the minimal metallic accents often found in Art Deco interiors. The lamp accommodates three E27 sockets, allowing for even light distribution and compatibility with modern standard bulbs.
The condition is very good for a piece of this age, with small signs of use and minor nicks on the glass shade, which are consistent with its vintage origin and do not detract from the visual presentation. These features add to its authenticity and historical character.
The dimensions are 60 cm in diameter and 55 cm in height, equivalent to approximately 23.6 inches in diameter and 21.7 inches in height.
