Information

This Swedish side table dates from the 1950s and is distinguished by its veneered alder root tabletop adorned with refined intarsia detailing. It exemplifies mid-century Scandinavian craftsmanship, where intricate woodwork, material richness, and restrained form come together.

The tabletop is circular with a softly rounded edge and veneered in highly figured alder root, displaying a deep amber-brown tone with a vivid, swirling grain pattern. Delicate botanical motifs are inlaid into the veneer using contrasting lighter woods, depicting stylized flowering branches and slender leaves. These intarsia decorations are executed with precision and integrated seamlessly into the composition, reflecting both traditional artisanal skill and the decorative aesthetics of the period.

The table stands on three tapered, turned legs crafted from stained hardwood, set at a slight splay that provides stability while maintaining a sense of visual lightness. Each leg is capped with a slender brass ferrule that elevates the table’s profile and adds a subtle material contrast. The construction is elegant and balanced, making the piece versatile as a lamp table, occasional table, or decorative accent in living or sitting areas.

The table is in very good condition, showing light wear consistent with age. The veneer remains well preserved with a strong surface sheen and minor signs of use, such as subtle surface marks.

The dimensions are 56 cm in diameter and 49.5 cm in height (approximately 22 inches wide and 19.5 inches tall).
