Information

Pair of easy chairs model 2225 designed by Børge Mogensen and produced by Fredericia Stolefabrik in Denmark during the 1960s. These chairs exemplify Mogensen’s refined approach to functional design, where structural honesty and comfort are achieved through clear construction and timeless material combinations.

The chairs feature solid oak frames with strong, angular geometry and precise joinery. The natural saddle leather seat and backrest are suspended over the wooden structure and secured by brass buckles at the rear, allowing subtle adjustment and enhancing both comfort and visual depth. The leather is vegetable-tanned and hand-stitched along the edges, displaying a warm cognac tone that will continue to develop a rich patina over time. The armrests are broad and gently beveled, contributing to the tactile and visual balance of the form.

Børge Mogensen (1914–1972) was a leading figure in Danish Modern design and a pioneer of democratic furniture ideals. His collaboration with Fredericia Stolefabrik produced some of the most enduring works in Scandinavian design history, characterized by functional clarity, honest materials, and craftsmanship rooted in traditional woodworking. Model 2225 reflects Mogensen’s focus on structural transparency—where every element serves a purpose and the materials speak for themselves.

Both chairs remain in excellent condition with minor signs of use and natural patina to the leather and brass hardware. The oak frames are solid and well-preserved, with a consistent finish that enhances the organic tone of the leather.
