Information

This rare easy chair, model AP-16, was designed by Hans J. Wegner and produced by AP-Stolen in Denmark in 1951. The chair is executed in solid oak with a warm, natural finish that highlights the grain structure of the wood. Its frame features Wegner’s characteristic sculptural lines, with a gently inclined backrest, organically shaped armrests, and slightly tapered legs that provide both visual lightness and stability.

The seat and back retain their original green-brown wool upholstery, which shows consistent age-related wear and a soft patina. The fabric remains intact and serviceable, presenting the chair in authentic vintage condition. Beneath the seat, the original webbing support is visible, further emphasizing the chair’s craftsmanship and durability.

Hans Wegner, one of the most celebrated Danish furniture designers, is renowned for his ability to unite traditional woodworking techniques with modern design sensibilities. The AP-16 is an excellent example of his early work, created during a period in which Wegner was collaborating closely with AP-Stolen to produce some of his most iconic chairs.

This piece represents the essence of Scandinavian modernism with its focus on honest materials, functional form, and timeless aesthetics. It measures 71.5 cm in width, 76 cm in depth, and 83 cm in height (28.1 x 29.9 x 32.7 inches), with a seat height of 41 cm (16.1 inches). The chair is offered in good vintage condition, with visible signs of age that contribute to its charm and authenticity.
