Tove & Edvard Kindt-Larsen side tables
This rare pair of side tables was designed by Tove and Edvard Kindt-Larsen and produced by France & Son in Denmark during the 1950s. These tables represent mid-century Scandinavian modern design through their organic shapes, high functionality, and meticulous craftsmanship.
Made from solid teak, the tables display a warm, natural wood tone with a finely grained surface that highlights the material’s natural beauty. The tabletops are softly curved with slightly raised edges, lending a subtle sculptural quality to the design. The legs are tapered and gently angled, a common feature in Scandinavian furniture that enhances both stability and the appearance of lightness. Below each tabletop, a slatted shelf is integrated into the frame, providing practical additional storage while maintaining the clean, open aesthetic typical of the period.
Tove and Edvard Kindt-Larsen were influential Danish designers recognized for their ability to blend practicality with elegant proportions and quality materials. France & Son was a leading Danish manufacturer known for producing modernist furniture pieces with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship during the mid-20th century.
These side tables are in good vintage condition, exhibiting minor signs of wear consistent with age and use. The teak wood has developed a rich patina that adds to their character and visual depth.
Each table measures approximately 75 cm in width, 51 cm in depth, and 57 cm in height (29.5 x 20.1 x 22.4 inches).
