Hans Bergström floor lamp
This rare floor lamp, model 544, was designed by Hans Bergström and produced by Ateljé Lyktan in Åhus, Sweden, during the 1950s. The lamp features a teak body with an elongated, slightly tapered form, including a distinctive cut-out handle detail that adds both visual interest and functional ease. The adjustable arm and base are made from brass, allowing flexible positioning of the light source to suit different lighting needs. The original lampshade is crafted from pleated fabric in a natural yellow tone, softly diffusing the light for a warm ambiance.
Hans Bergström was a prominent Swedish designer noted for his contributions to Scandinavian modern lighting, where craftsmanship and functional aesthetics were paramount. As founder of Ateljé Lyktan, he played a significant role in defining Swedish lighting design in the mid-20th century. Established in 1934, Ateljé Lyktan became renowned for producing high-quality fixtures that combined modernist design principles with organic materials.
This lamp remains in its original condition, showing wear consistent with its age. The brass elements exhibit a natural, aged patina, while the teak structure maintains a rich, warm hue. The original fabric shade is well preserved, retaining both its texture and color.
The lamp measures approximately 20 cm wide, 50 cm deep, and 134 cm high (7.9 x 19.7 x 52.8 inches).
