Hans-Agne Jakobsson floor lamps
This rare pair of model G-192 floor lamps, designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden during the 1950s, exemplifies Scandinavian mid-century modern lighting. Each lamp features a polished brass vertical shaft mounted on a circular weighted base, with a lateral cantilevered brass arm supporting a softly bell-shaped lampshade crafted from handwoven natural cane.
The open basket weave of the cane shade diffuses light delicately, creating a warm glow and patterned shadows that enhance ambient interiors. The brass shows a gentle patina and minor surface wear, consistent with its vintage origin, complementing the organic texture and color variations of the cane.
Jakobsson’s design philosophy emphasized atmospheric, indirect lighting combined with natural materials, producing pieces that are both sculptural and functional. This pair of lamps embodies those ideals with its minimalist form, craftsmanship, and subtle interplay between metal and rattan.
Both lamps are in good vintage condition with structurally sound shades and original woven texture intact. Dimensions for each lamp are 42 cm wide, 63 cm deep, and 160 cm high (approximately 16.5 x 24.8 x 63 inches).
