Hans-Agne Jakobsson table lamp
This table lamp, model BN-26, designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden during the 1960s, features a brass-coated aluminum construction with a matte golden finish. Its design is sculptural and elegant, defined by horizontally stacked curved louvres that form a tiered shade. This layered shade design diffuses light softly and horizontally through the gaps, creating ambient illumination while minimizing glare. The underside of the shade reveals a white lacquered reflector surface that enhances light diffusion. The lamp rests on a flared, trumpet-like base that provides stability and complements the overall form. The electrical components are housed within the central column, maintaining a clean profile.
Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919–2009) was a renowned Swedish lighting designer noted for his atmospheric and refined lighting forms, often incorporating layered structures and natural materials. This piece reflects the Scandinavian modernist emphasis on light quality and functional elegance.
The lamp is in very good vintage condition, showing only light wear consistent with its age.
