Hans-Agne Jakobsson ceiling lamps
This rare ceiling lamp, model T 348/9, was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden, during the 1950s. The fixture is crafted from brass, which provides a polished golden finish that contrasts elegantly with the warm amber tones of the hand-blown glass spheres. The symmetrical arrangement of the glass shades forms a striking and balanced composition that enhances the diffusion of light throughout the space.
The chandelier’s design includes a central brass column from which multiple arms extend, each supporting an amber glass sphere. This modular structure ensures even illumination while maintaining a sculptural, refined aesthetic. The amber glass shades emit a soft, atmospheric glow, characteristic of Jakobsson’s signature style, known for creating warmth and visual depth in interiors.
Hans-Agne Jakobsson was a seminal figure in Swedish lighting design, celebrated for his innovative methods of light diffusion and material use. His company in Markaryd specialized in high-quality Scandinavian lighting fixtures, where brass and colored glass became hallmark elements of mid-century Nordic design.
The lamp remains in good vintage condition, exhibiting a natural patina on the brass and minor wear consistent with its age.
Dimensions measure 80 cm in diameter, 105 cm in height (31.5 x 41.3 inches), and the suspension is extendable up to 305 cm (120 inches) in total height.
