Ceiling lamp

Information

This rare ceiling lamp, produced in Sweden during the 1950s by an unknown designer, is a refined example of mid-century Scandinavian lighting that combines functional simplicity with delicate decorative elements. It reflects the era’s focus on craftsmanship and material honesty, while incorporating subtle visual ornamentation that softens the design’s overall minimalism.

The lamp features a circular glass shade with etched floral motifs, offering a decorative but understated aesthetic. The etched pattern lends a tactile texture and adds a layer of visual interest when the lamp is both illuminated and unlit. The glass is gently domed, contributing to an even diffusion of light and enhancing the lamp’s ambient qualities.

Brass is used for the structural components, including the ceiling mount and decorative detailing. The base is particularly notable for its star-shaped perforations, which are both whimsical and stylistically emblematic of 1950s Scandinavian design. These cutouts cast subtle patterns of light onto the ceiling, reinforcing the lamp’s decorative and atmospheric functions.

Equipped with a single E27 socket, the lamp provides soft and evenly distributed lighting, ideal for smaller spaces such as hallways, entryways, or intimate corners. The brass surfaces exhibit a natural patina from age, and the overall condition includes minor signs of use, consistent with its vintage origin and adding to its authenticity.

The lamp measures 25 cm in diameter and 65 cm in height, which corresponds to approximately 9.8 inches in diameter and 25.6 inches in height.
