Information

This rare ceiling lamp, designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Arnold Wiig’s Fabrikker (AWF) in Norway during the 1950s, is a refined example of Scandinavian mid-century modern lighting. The lamp features a brass structure with a warm golden tone that contrasts elegantly with seven symmetrically arranged conical opal glass shades. Each shade is secured by delicate brass fasteners, and the opal glass diffuses light softly and evenly, creating a gentle ambient glow.

Hans-Agne Jakobsson was a prominent Swedish designer renowned for his ability to combine craftsmanship with atmospheric lighting effects. His designs are noted for their elegant simplicity and functional beauty, which have become iconic in Scandinavian modernism. Arnold Wiig’s Fabrikker was a respected Norwegian manufacturer known for collaborating with leading designers to create quality lighting and furniture during the mid-20th century.

This lamp exemplifies mid-century Scandinavian design ideals, harmonizing organic shapes with high-quality materials. The brass frame shows a subtle, age-appropriate patina, enhancing its vintage character, while the opal glass shades remain in excellent original condition, retaining their soft, milky-white appearance.
