Information

This pair of Sirocco easy chairs, designed by Arne Norell and produced by Arne Norell AB in Aneby, Sweden, in 1964, is a refined interpretation of the classic safari chair. The design centers on a solid rosewood frame with a rich, expressive grain, featuring softly rounded edges and traditional joinery that highlights the natural beauty and craftsmanship of the wood.

The seats and backrests are made from original suede in a natural beige tone, complemented by cognac brown leather straps and armrests that provide both structural support and visual contrast. The suspended seat structure, supported by these leather straps, offers a flexible and comfortable seating experience. The tufted suede cushions enhance comfort with additional softness, while brass hardware secures the leather components, underscoring the meticulous attention to detail and artisanal quality.

Arne Norell was known for blending traditional craftsmanship with innovative construction techniques, frequently utilizing high-quality materials and modular designs that facilitate easy assembly and disassembly. The Sirocco model, inspired by campaign and safari furniture, exemplifies these values through its lightweight yet durable construction.

The chairs remain in good vintage condition, showing age-appropriate patina and wear, especially on the leather straps, which have softened and gained character over time. Each chair measures 68 cm in width, 66 cm in depth, and 71 cm in height (26.8 x 26 x 28 inches), with a seat height of 38 cm (15 inches).
