Boris Lacroix table lamp
This rare table or wall lamp was designed by Boris Lacroix and produced by Falkenbergs Belysning in Sweden during the 1950s. Constructed from lacquered metal and solid brass, the lamp embodies the characteristic Scandinavian mid-century design aesthetic, blending functional minimalism with sculptural elements.
The lamp features a versatile structure, allowing it to be used both as a wall-mounted fixture and as a table lamp. It is supported by a tripod-like base with a loop for vertical suspension, providing stability and flexibility. The adjustable arm and head are connected by ball-and-socket joints, enabling directional lighting for different uses. The cream-colored metal lampshade has an organic, flared conical form and is perforated with evenly spaced cross-shaped cutouts around its lower edge. These cutouts diffuse light in a decorative manner, adding visual interest while enhancing the functionality of the piece.
The brass elements of the lamp have developed a beautiful patina over time, with age-appropriate wear to the lacquer and oxidation visible on the metal, further contributing to its vintage character. This lamp exemplifies the combination of French modernism and Swedish craftsmanship, offering both elegance and practicality.
The dimensions of the lamp are 12 cm in width, 32 cm in depth, and 24 cm in height, which corresponds to approximately 4.7 inches wide, 12.6 inches deep, and 9.4 inches high.
