Boris Lacroix table lamp
This rare mid-century table or wall lamp was designed by Boris Lacroix and produced by Falkenbergs Belysning in Sweden during the 1950s. The lamp features a light blue lacquered metal shade with distinctive star-shaped perforations along its lower edge. These perforations are not only decorative but also allow light to escape, casting a subtle patterned glow when the lamp is illuminated, enhancing the ambiance of the space.
The armature is made from brass with a bamboo-style form, aligning with Lacroix’s refined and utilitarian aesthetic. The adjustable joint system allows the lamp to be oriented as needed, offering flexibility for both tabletop use and wall mounting, which demonstrates its versatility in both function and placement.
The brass elements have developed a natural patina over time, adding to the vintage charm of the piece. The lacquered shade shows signs of age, including areas of flaking and chipped paint, which reflect the lamp’s history and further contribute to its authentic character. The lamp’s dimensions are 12 cm wide, 32 cm deep, and 24 cm high (4.7 x 12.6 x 9.4 inches).
This design serves as a notable example of Scandinavian lighting influenced by French modernist sensibilities, combining decorative detail with mechanical precision. It remains a beautiful and functional piece with a timeless appeal.
