This rare low side table or bureau, produced in the 1960s by AB Glas & Trä in Hovmantorp, Småland, Sweden, exemplifies the expressive yet restrained qualities of Scandinavian modernism. Constructed from richly grained rosewood, the table presents a dark reddish-brown tone with natural variations and distinctive figures in the veneer across the front and top surfaces. The overall form is rectilinear and horizontally oriented, interrupted by a sculptural central band of recessed drawers. These drawers feature integrated black leather strap handles, which create a subtle contrast against the warm wood while maintaining the piece’s minimalist aesthetic. The structure rests on two flat vertical side panels, producing a monolithic visual effect. At the same time, the recessed plinth and drawer section contribute to a sense of lightness and balance.
