This rare bronze candelabra, produced by GAB (Guldsmedsaktiebolaget) in Sweden, is a finely crafted piece that exemplifies early 20th-century Swedish metalwork with a blend of classical and Art Deco influences. GAB, one of Sweden’s most reputable producers of fine metal objects, was known for its high standards in bronze and silverwork, supplying both domestic and ceremonial objects of enduring quality.

The candelabra features a symmetrical and balanced form centered around a ribbed spherical hub, which acts as the structural and visual anchor of the composition. From this central body, five gently arched arms radiate outward in an even configuration. Each arm terminates in a tulip-shaped candleholder, with fluted petal-like contours that evoke classical floral motifs while also providing a functional grip for taper candles.

The base is octagonal in shape, adding geometric contrast to the otherwise curvilinear upper structure. The faceted form of the base lends visual weight and architectural grounding, ensuring stability while harmonizing with the overall composition. The transition from the geometric base to the fluid arms and central ribbed sphere is executed with refined proportion and precision.

The surface of the candelabra is finished in naturally aged patinated bronze. The coloration ranges from deep warm browns to areas of greenish oxidation, particularly within the crevices and decorative grooves. This verdigris patina has developed organically over time, offering a textured and nuanced surface that emphasizes the craftsmanship and age of the piece. Rather than detracting, these marks of age enrich the candelabra’s historical character and visual depth.

Condition is good vintage, with patina, surface wear, and oxidation consistent with age and careful use. The structural integrity is intact, and the candleholders remain functional and well-aligned.
