Chandelier
Ceiling chandelier in wrought iron, produced in Sweden during the mid-20th century, circa 1950s–1970s. The design reflects the Scandinavian tradition of blackened iron lighting, where functional clarity meets a handcrafted, sculptural expression.
The chandelier is constructed around a central vertical stem from which multiple softly curved arms extend on two levels. The lower tier projects outward in wide, sweeping lines, while the upper tier rises more vertically before gently curving, creating a balanced and architectural silhouette. Each arm terminates in a cylindrical candle holder with an integrated drip tray, designed for crown candles. The repetition of these elements forms a rhythmic composition, almost reminiscent of branching foliage, giving the piece an organic yet structured character.
Executed in black wrought iron, the surface has a subtle texture that reveals its artisanal origin. The restrained finish and clean lines align with Swedish functionalist ideals, while the forged construction connects to older Nordic ironworking traditions. The chandelier works equally well in rustic interiors, country houses, and more minimal contemporary spaces where its graphic form can stand out against light walls.
The diameter measures 78 cm (30.7 inches). The total height is 145 cm (57.1 inches), including suspension, with the chandelier body itself measuring 72 cm in height (28.3 inches).
The piece remains in good vintage condition with small signs of usage consistent with age, including minor wear to the lacquered surface. The structure is stable and well preserved.
