Information

This rare pair of easy chairs, model Yacht, was designed by Christina and Lars Andersson and produced by F.G. Intersales AB in Huskvarna, Sweden in 1986. The design embodies a sharply modernist aesthetic with a high-back profile and a visually striking suspended seat.

The seat is crafted from a single sling of thick, natural leather in a cognac tone, which hangs tautly from a chrome-plated tubular steel frame. The leather uses tension to form both the backrest and the base, creating a hammock-like seating experience that is both sculptural and ergonomic. The leather shows a visible patina and wear consistent with age, including natural creasing, darkened areas, and minor surface marks.

The frame is constructed from bright, industrially finished steel tubes, mechanically joined at the corners and vertical supports with visible fastenings that emphasize the structural and industrial character of the design. Each chair bears a production label indicating the model name, design firm, production site, and date.

The form is architectonic and sculptural, highlighting materials and structural expression typical of Scandinavian postmodern industrial design from the 1980s.

The dimensions are 89 cm in width, 90 cm in depth, and 128 cm in height, with a seat height of 39 cm (approximately 35 x 35.4 x 50.4 inches, seat height 15.4 inches).
