Eric Merthen easy chairs

This rare pair of easy chairs, model Amiral, was designed by Eric Merthen in 1964 and produced by Ire Möbler in Skillingaryd, Sweden. The frames are constructed in solid wood with a warm tone, supporting generously padded cushions upholstered in their original green leather. The leather has developed a distinctive patina over time, with visible signs of wear that testify to decades of use, yet remain consistent with the chairs’ vintage condition.

The Amiral model is notable for its combination of structural clarity and comfort. The wooden frame is designed with an emphasis on openness, allowing the cushions to rest within the structure rather than being fully integrated into it. Wide armrests and deep seats emphasize relaxation, while the strapped suspension visible from the back provides resilience and ergonomic support.
