Information

This rare cabinet was designed by Erik Chambert and produced by Chamberts Möbelfabriker in Norrköping, Sweden, during the 1920s. Chambert, known for his refined sense of proportion and craftsmanship, was one of the leading figures in Swedish Art Deco furniture design. His work combined elegance with functional precision, often highlighting the beauty of natural wood grains and sophisticated detailing.

The cabinet is crafted from flamed birch and rosewood, with dark-stained, carved birch legs that give the piece a sculptural and grounded presence. The rich, warm tones of the flamed birch veneer are accentuated by the deep, almost ebony hue of the rosewood, creating a striking contrast that emphasizes the verticality and architectural structure of the cabinet. The symmetrical door panels display a beautiful bookmatched grain pattern, while the two lower drawers are fitted with circular brass ring handles, characteristic of the Art Deco period’s focus on geometric simplicity and material quality.

Inside, the cabinet is fitted with shelves, offering practical storage while maintaining a clean and understated exterior. Its proportions and craftsmanship reflect the transition from early 20th-century traditional furniture to the more streamlined, modern aesthetics that defined Scandinavian Art Deco.

The piece is in good vintage condition, showing signs of age and patina that enhance its historical character and authenticity.

Dimensions are 107 cm wide, 45 cm deep, and 180.5 cm high (42.1 x 17.7 x 71.1 in)
