Floor lamp

This rare floor lamp was produced by Falkenbergs Lampfabrik AB in Sweden and is executed in brass and black-lacquered metal. The design is defined by its geometric clarity and elegant proportions, with a circular base formed by two angled supports rising to meet the central brass section. The shaft transitions into a polished brass connector that supports the adjustable conical shade. The shade, finished in a textured black lacquer with a pale interior, directs light in a focused yet warm beam, typical of Scandinavian modern lighting from the mid-20th century.

The lamp demonstrates the period’s strong interest in combining sculptural form with functionality. The use of brass not only provides durability but also contrasts elegantly with the matte black lacquer of the supporting structure. The conical shade and slender brass rod emphasize directionality and purpose, while the circular base gives the lamp visual balance and stability. Its detailing, including the pull cord with a brass ball terminal, reflects the attention to craftsmanship characteristic of Swedish lighting design during the postwar decades.
