Gösta Israelsson bowl

This wooden bowl was designed by Gösta Israelsson and produced in Finja, Sweden, during the 1960s. Crafted from Swedish hardwood, most likely ash, the bowl has been treated with a plastic coating to enhance its durability and resistance to water. The wood exhibits warm, medium-brown hues with a visible grain pattern that flows naturally around the smoothly rounded, organic form. The bowl’s profile is broad at the opening and tapers gently toward a narrower base, creating a balanced and grounded silhouette.

The piece embodies the principles of mid-century Scandinavian design, where natural materials, functional craftsmanship, and understated forms are paramount.
