Hans-Agne Jakobsson ceiling lamp
This rare and large ceiling lamp, model T-348/12, was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden during the 1950s. The chandelier is a striking example of mid-century Scandinavian lighting, balancing sculptural elegance with practical illumination. Its polished brass frame extends twelve arms radially from a central hub, each arm supporting a clear, hand-blown glass globe. This arrangement provides even light distribution while preserving a sense of openness and transparency.
The brass frame has developed a natural patina that adds depth and character to the surface. The clear glass globes vary slightly in shape due to their handcrafted nature, enhancing the uniqueness of the fixture. Each globe is secured by a brass collar with three prongs, ensuring stability while maintaining a delicate aesthetic. The lamp is suspended from a central brass rod connected to a ceiling-mounted canopy, preserving elegant vertical proportions and structural integrity.
Hans-Agne Jakobsson was renowned for his innovative lighting designs, often utilizing layered materials to diffuse light warmly and atmospherically. Produced by his own company in Markaryd, his lamps are celebrated for refined craftsmanship and timeless appeal.
This lamp is in well-preserved vintage condition, showing minor wear consistent with age and use. Measuring 150 cm in diameter and 160 cm in height (59 x 63 inches), it is a commanding statement piece, ideally suited for spacious rooms with high ceilings.
