Information

This rare ceiling lamp, model T 348/6, was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by his own company Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden, during the 1960s. The chandelier features a brass construction with a central stem and six horizontal arms, each supporting a single light source. The six evenly spaced arms create a radial symmetry that contributes to the lamp’s balanced and architectural appearance.

Each light is housed within a spherical glass globe in a warm amber tone, typical of Jakobsson’s preference for diffused, atmospheric lighting. The combination of polished brass and softly tinted glass produces a warm, elegant glow when illuminated, characteristic of mid-century Scandinavian design’s focus on mood and materiality. The brass surfaces retain their original finish with expected signs of age and patina, and the glass shows some nicks and small imperfections consistent with age and use, as documented in the detailed photographs.

Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919–2009) was one of Sweden’s most influential lighting designers, known for his ability to create lamps that softened light and introduced warmth into interiors. Founding his company in Markaryd in 1951, he developed a wide range of pendant lamps, chandeliers, and wall lights that became emblematic of Scandinavian modernism. His work is appreciated for its simplicity, functionality, and subtle sculptural qualities.

This piece represents a quintessential mid-century Scandinavian chandelier, both technical in its construction and refined in its aesthetic. It would have originally been used in residential or public interiors, reflecting the 1960s interest in combining functional lighting with a decorative statement.

Diameter 80 cm (31.5 inches), height 125 cm (49.2 inches).
