Hans-Agne Jakobsson ceiling lamp
The ceiling lamp model T-603 was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by his own company, Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB, in Markaryd, Sweden during the 1960s. This striking design combines a brass frame with cascading layers of silk fringes in a vivid yellow-green tone, creating a soft diffusion of light that is both sculptural and atmospheric.
The lamp exemplifies Jakobsson’s distinctive approach to lighting—where material, color, and texture were used to shape how light behaves in space. The silk fringe construction produces a warm, shimmering glow, and its tiered form adds movement and dimension to the design. The brass ring at the top anchors the composition and provides a refined contrast to the organic tactility of the fabric.
Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919–2009) was one of Sweden’s most innovative lighting designers, known for his ability to create lamps that blend function with mood. His works often emphasized softness, diffused light, and handcrafted detailing, establishing him as a central figure in mid-century Scandinavian lighting design.
This example remains in excellent vintage condition with minor signs of age and use.
