Hans-Agne Jakobsson wall lamps

Hans-Agne Jakobsson was one of Sweden’s most influential lighting designers of the mid-twentieth century. After early experience working for both General Motors and the prominent designers Carl Malmsten and Werner West, he founded his own company in Markaryd in 1951. His work is known for exploring how different materials and layered constructions affect light quality. In many of his designs, including this model, Jakobsson sought to avoid glare by filtering light through overlapping elements, creating a warm and atmospheric effect.

The lamps were produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB, a company that became notable for its wide range of lighting models and small-scale production focused on craftsmanship. During the 1950s and 1960s, the firm developed numerous brass and wood fixtures that became staples of Scandinavian mid-century interiors. Model V-155 belongs to a family of wall lamps using bent brass bands, which demonstrate the company’s technical control of metalworking and attention to light dispersion.
