Hans Bergström ceiling lamp
This very rare ceiling lamp was designed by Hans Bergström and produced by Ateljé Lyktan in Åhus, Sweden during the 1940s. The lamp features a brass structure with its original balloon-shaped shade in fabric and lace, supported by vertical brass ribs. The delicate floral-patterned textile diffuses the light softly, creating a warm and atmospheric glow characteristic of Bergström’s poetic approach to illumination.
The form combines elegance and craftsmanship, with decorative wire detailing at both the top and bottom of the frame. The brass elements have developed a natural patina over time, harmonizing with the subtle amber tone of the aged fabric. The interplay between the structured brass frame and the soft, translucent shade exemplifies the Scandinavian ideal of merging function with beauty.
In good vintage condition with visible signs of age and patina consistent with use. The textile shade shows gentle wear, reflecting the lamp’s original materials and period authenticity.
