Harald Notini ceiling lamp
This rare ceiling lamp was designed by Harald Notini and produced by Arvid Böhlmarks Lampfabrik in Sweden during the 1920s. It stands as an early example of Scandinavian modern design, merging natural materials with refined craftsmanship. The lamp features a spherical opalescent glass shade, which is encased within an intricate cane lattice. This combination creates a structured yet organic aesthetic, allowing the glass to emit a warm, diffused light that enhances the lamp’s atmospheric presence.
Harald Notini (1879–1959) was a prominent Swedish designer known for his contributions to lighting and furniture design. As chief designer for Böhlmarks Lampfabrik, he played a key role in shaping Swedish lighting during the early 20th century. Notini’s work often balanced functional requirements with decorative qualities, reflecting the stylistic transition from Art Nouveau toward early modernist trends.
Arvid Böhlmarks Lampfabrik, founded in 1872, was one of Sweden’s leading lighting manufacturers in the early 1900s. The company earned a reputation for high-quality craftsmanship and innovative material use. During the 1920s, Böhlmarks produced designs that blended traditional and modern influences, emphasizing elegant forms crafted from premium materials.
This lamp remains in good vintage condition, showing age-appropriate wear on the cane framework and brass fittings. The original glass shade is intact and well preserved.
