Harald Notini floor lamps
This is a rare and finely preserved pair of floor lamps, model 15750, designed by Swedish lighting designer Harald Notini and produced by Arvid Böhlmarks Lampfabrik in Sweden during the 1950s. The design exemplifies Scandinavian modernism with its restrained material palette and subtle use of detailing.
Each lamp features a circular base and slender shaft constructed in patinated brass, giving off a warm, aged golden tone. A distinctive element of these lamps is the leather-wrapped mid-section of the stand, executed in a deep reddish-brown tone. The leather is coiled in a spiral wrap, providing both a tactile contrast and a visual accent to the smooth metal surfaces. The condition of the leather is good, with minor, age-consistent wear. The brass elements are equally well preserved, with surface patina and minimal oxidation, aligning with high-grade vintage condition. The lamps are topped with newly replaced shades in off-white fabric, shaped in a broad conical form that gently diffuses light, contributing to their ambient effect when lit.
Harald Notini (1900–1990) was a prominent figure in Swedish decorative arts, known for his lighting and metalwork designs that often blended traditional craftsmanship with a modernist aesthetic. His collaborations with Böhlmarks were particularly influential in defining Swedish lighting design in the mid-20th century. Arvid Böhlmarks Lampfabrik, active since the late 19th century, was a key manufacturer of high-quality lighting in Sweden, noted for its collaborations with leading designers of the era.
