Ivar Ålenius Björk mirror

This rare wall-mounted mirror was designed by Ivar Ålenius Björk and produced by Ystad Metall in Sweden during the 1940s. The mirror features a rectangular shape with softly rounded corners and a flat profile, framed in brass that displays a warm golden tone with a light patina and natural oxidation indicative of its age. The top of the frame is decorated with an ornamental brass crest resembling a stylized ribbon or plume, a motif characteristic of the Art Deco style filtered through Scandinavian restraint and refinement.

Ivar Ålenius Björk was a noted Swedish sculptor and designer celebrated for his metalwork, especially his decorative contributions to Ystad Metall. His work often balances modernist clarity with ornamental detailing, blending classical influences with the evolving modern styles of the early to mid-20th century. Ystad Metall was a prominent Swedish metal workshop known for producing high-quality brass and bronze objects, collaborating with many distinguished designers of the era.
