Information

A rare set of six dining chairs, model 4751, designed by Kaare Klint in 1933 and produced by Rud. Rasmussen in Copenhagen. This model is a refined example of Klint’s rational and proportion-driven approach to furniture design, where classical references are distilled into a restrained and highly functional modern expression. The chairs carry the original cabinetmaker’s paper label, confirming their Danish origin and production by one of the most esteemed workshops associated with Klint’s oeuvre.

The frames are executed in solid mahogany, displaying a warm, reddish-brown tone with a subtle, even grain that enhances the architectural clarity of the construction. The legs are slightly tapered and connected by stretchers, providing both structural stability and a visual grounding. The rear legs rise gently into the back supports, creating a continuous and balanced silhouette. The craftsmanship is precise and understated, characteristic of Rud. Rasmussen’s high standards.

Seats and backrests are upholstered in patinated leather in a rich cognac hue. The leather shows a natural variation in tone with visible markings, lending depth and authenticity to the surface. Brass rivets outline both the seat and the rectangular backrest, adding a rhythmic decorative detail while reinforcing the upholstery. The seat has a subtly shaped front edge for comfort, and the slightly curved backrest offers supportive ergonomics without excess.

The condition is excellent, with signs of use consistent with age. The leather has developed a desirable patina with scattered marks and tonal variations, while the mahogany frames remain well-preserved with minor wear. Structurally sound and ready for use, the set represents both a functional seating solution and a significant piece of Danish design history.

Dimensions: height 85 cm (33.5 in), width 52.5 cm (20.7 in), depth 52 cm (20.5 in), seat height 45 cm (17.7 in).
