Lisa Johansson-Pape ceiling lamp
This ceiling lamp, model 61-338, was designed by Lisa Johansson-Pape and produced by Stockmann-Orno in Finland during the mid-20th century. The piece is a striking example of Scandinavian mid-century lighting design, balancing elegance, materiality, and functionality with refined simplicity.
The lamp features a large, smoothly rounded opaline glass shade in a soft white hue, designed to diffuse the light evenly and warmly throughout the space. Beneath the shade, a series of concentric brass rings adds a sophisticated architectural detail, while also helping to direct and soften the light downward. The frame and suspension rod are made of polished brass, offering a warm, golden contrast to the cool opacity of the glass.
The form is characterized by a harmonious, organic silhouette that merges clean geometry with a slightly domed, flowing profile. The delicate balance of materials and shapes reflects Johansson-Pape’s commitment to creating lighting that was both technically efficient and visually poetic.
The lamp is in excellent condition, with the opaline glass shade preserved without cracks or significant wear, and the brass elements showing only minimal patina consistent with age. The surfaces retain their original luster and overall the lamp presents beautifully.
