Lisa Johansson-Pape ceiling lamp
This rare ceiling lamp was designed by Lisa Johansson-Pape and produced by Orno in Finland. The design exemplifies the mid-century Scandinavian modern aesthetic, combining warm natural materials with refined, functional forms. The lamp features a circular shade constructed of thin wooden slats, carefully bound with light-colored thread, creating a translucent surface that diffuses the light gently and evenly. Its form is wide and conical, giving the lamp a striking horizontal presence that anchors it visually in a room.
The central element is composed of a softly rounded glass diffuser, finished with a brass cap at its base. The suspension consists of a brass canopy and rod, which complement the warm tones of the wood and glass. The combination of materials – brass, glass, and wood – is characteristic of Johansson-Pape’s work, where natural tactility and warmth play a key role.
This lamp is in good vintage condition, showing small signs of age and patina consistent with careful use. The wooden slats retain their even tone, and the brass parts have developed a subtle, authentic surface patina. The dimensions are 65 cm in diameter and 53 cm in height (approximately 25.6 x 20.9 inches).
