Information

This set of six dining chairs, model 71, was designed by Niels O. Møller and produced by J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik in Denmark. The chairs are made of solid oak with handwoven brown cotton cord seats. Their design reflects the functional elegance and fine craftsmanship characteristic of Danish modern furniture from the mid-twentieth century. The curved backrest and precisely joined frame demonstrate Møller’s mastery in creating pieces that are both sculptural and ergonomic.

Niels O. Møller was known for his dedication to traditional woodworking methods and attention to detail, qualities that earned his furniture international recognition. Founded in 1944, J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik became one of Denmark’s most respected furniture manufacturers, producing designs that exemplified the purity and refinement of Scandinavian modernism. The model 71, designed in 1951, remains one of Møller’s most enduring creations, combining structure, comfort, and timeless form.

The chairs are in excellent vintage condition, with small signs of usage consistent with age. The oak frames display a warm natural patina, while the woven seats retain their original integrity and craftsmanship. Their balanced proportions and understated detailing make them exemplary pieces of Danish furniture design from the postwar period.

Dimensions are 49 cm wide, 49 cm deep, and 79 cm high (19.3 x 19.3 x 31.1 in), with a seat height of 43 cm (16.9 in)
