Information

This rare set of six dining chairs, model 79, was designed by Niels O. Møller and produced by J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik in Denmark during the 1960s. The chairs are crafted in rosewood with their original deep burgundy leather upholstery. The design reflects the refined precision of Danish craftsmanship, characterized by organic contours, elegantly sculpted backrests, and seamless joinery. The slightly curved back and slender frame create a visually light yet structurally strong form that exemplifies the harmony between functionality and beauty in mid-century Scandinavian design.

Niels O. Møller, one of Denmark’s foremost furniture designers, was known for his devotion to artisanal woodworking and his insistence on quality over mass production. His collaboration with J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik, founded in 1944, resulted in a series of timeless dining chairs that are now considered icons of Danish modernism. Model 79, in particular, stands out for its architectural elegance and the tactile contrast between polished rosewood and supple leather, both materials chosen for their durability and natural patina over time.

The chairs remain in good vintage condition, showing signs of use and a rich patina consistent with age. The rosewood has developed a warm, lustrous tone, and the original leather seats retain their character and comfort. Each piece testifies to the exceptional craftsmanship that made Møller’s work internationally renowned.

Dimensions are 50 cm wide, 48 cm deep, and 78.5 cm high (19.7 x 18.9 x 30.9 in), with a seat height of 44 cm (17.3 in)
