Information

This set of six dining chairs, model 71, was designed by Niels O. Møller and produced by J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik in Denmark. Originally designed in 1951, these chairs exemplify the refined craftsmanship and organic aesthetic that define Danish mid-century modern furniture. The chairs are constructed from rosewood, a prized material known for its deep, warm tones and distinctive grain patterns. The gently curved backrest is sculpted to provide ergonomic support, seamlessly flowing into the rear legs. The original black leather upholstery remains intact, offering a contrast to the rich wood while maintaining a soft, durable seating surface.

Niels O. Møller (1920–1982) was a Danish designer renowned for his dedication to craftsmanship and material quality. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Møller maintained a hands-on approach, ensuring that his designs were produced with a high degree of precision and attention to detail. His furniture is characterized by elegant, flowing lines and an absence of unnecessary ornamentation, resulting in pieces that are both timeless and functional.

J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik, founded in 1944, gained a reputation for producing some of Denmark’s finest handcrafted furniture. The company emphasized quality over mass production, leading to designs that remain highly sought after today. The chairs are in excellent vintage condition, showing signs of use consistent with age.

Each chair measures 49 cm in width, 49 cm in depth, and 79 cm in height, with a seat height of 43.5 cm (approximately 19.3 x 19.3 x 31.1 inches, seat height 17.1 inches).
